Ingredients  

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup buttermilk Provides moisture and tanginess.
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Add-ins

  • 1 cup fresh blueberries Some can be crushed for added flavor.

Method 

Preparation

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease your donut pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, mix together buttermilk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and stir until just mixed.
  5. Gently fold in the blueberries.
  6. Fill each donut mold about 2/3 full.

Baking

  1. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  2. Allow the donuts to cool for a few minutes before removing from the pan.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. They are best enjoyed fresh.
